Some experience working with clinical populations.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Department of Psychiatry at Stony Brook University is seeking a Social Neuroscience Postdoctoral Associate. The successful candidate will work on an NIMH R01 to study the neural mechanisms (PET and fMRI) involved in processing social stressors (eg. social rejection, exclusion, loss) and social reward. The goal is to determine neural mechanisms for sensitivity to social stressors and reward in both healthy and psychiatric populations. The candidate will also have access to numerous internal funding mechanisms to pursue independent research initiatives. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain stimulus presentations, behavioral paradigms, and protocols for PET and fMRI scans; train new lab employees/graduate students.

  • Conduct PET and fMRI scans in conjunction with trained technologists at Stony Brook University and the University of Michigan. Lab Manager Position available at the Morality Lab at Boston College

The Morality Lab at Boston College (http://moralitylab.bc.edu/) is looking for a full-time lab manager to begin work Spring/Summer 2015. We are looking for applicants who have prior experience with computer programming (e.g., MATLAB, Psychtoolbox, python, java) or are confident that they can learn on their own. We are also looking for applicants who are independent, passionate about science, and enjoy working with others. Prior research experience, including familiarity with experimental design and statistics, particularly in neuroscience, is a major plus. Current approaches in our lab include fMRI, TMS, eye-tracking, studying patient populations, and behavioral testing in children and adults. Some examples of current research topics include social cognition for competition versus cooperation, the distinct functions of moral norms, the representation of moral beliefs versus factual beliefs and opinions, and the role of episodic simulation and memory in prosocial behavior.

Please email Liane Young (liane.young@bc.eduSuccessfully Encoded) with the following information if you are interested in applying: (1) CV, (2) cover letter with contact information for three references. Please include in your application a brief description of your computer skills and ability to learn new software tools quickly as well as your interests in psychology and/or neuroscience. Applications received by May 11 will receive full consideration, and review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
